Tarot Meditations

Why Meditate On Tarot

Each day many of us seek insight and guidance, in order to make our lives better and to obtain understanding of various circumstances. Sometimes experiences that we encounter pick away at our beings and undermine the fabric of our souls. As each thread of the spirit is unraveled, the road to confusion, chaos and even meltdown is paved. We all desire to enhance our spiritual experience, thereby expanding our daily lives, whether it is in the form of studying the Holy Scriptures, prayer or yoga. Tarot meditations are one way to discover what we need to work on to improve ourselves. These meditations are also used by our spirit guides as a way to communicate much needed messages and information, which will enhance our lives and happiness.

What are Tarot Meditations?

The beautiful world of the tarot is one whose inception is cloaked in mystery. Some say the origins are from the Jewish mystical Kabbalah and serve as symbolism of universal truths. Others say each card represents loose pages of ancient Egyptian holy verses. Still others say the cards were created as a form of entertainment, as recently as few hundred years ago. Many psychics and mystics know firsthand that the tarot is much more than a game.

Each card is a window into the ether or the invisible realm – glimpses into the Akashic Records. As the cards are selected, they open up worlds of possibilities. The colorful images flood the mind with visions of what was, what is and what could be. They depict scenes from each earthly experience, from birth to death and beyond. The symbols illuminate and expand our thoughts to bring new ideas and even sometimes warnings.

How to Meditate with the Tarot

Create a sacred space of your choosing. You can do this by sitting comfortably in an area where you will not be disturbed. Be sure to select an area that you find aesthetically pleasing. You may choose to do ritualistic washings prior to entering this space. Burn candles or incense to assist your physical senses in joining the mind and spirit in a meditative state. The good news is each person can consecrate their space in whatever manner they choose, from calling the watchtowers to starting with a simple prayer for guidance.

Once you have entered a state of calm and relaxation, begin shuffling your favorite tarot deck until you feel satisfied that the cards have been moved to appropriate positions. You may cut the deck or choose to select one card from the top, middle or bottom. Be led by your intuition with regard to which card you choose. If you are lucky, a card will jump out and choose you!

Look at the card and the image it portrays. Read for the generally understood meaning, and then go deeper. What is the card saying to you? What chords do the images and colors strike as you calmly rest your third eye on the layout? For example, I selected the Strength tarot card twice in one week as I struggled with learning to fight personal battles using more demure methods. The lady in the card did not struggle with the lion, but subdued it by the gentle touch of her hand and her own calm. This was the lesson that the universal masters and spirit guides wanted the tarot to teach me. Sometimes you may feel the need to meditate on a card for a few days, depending on the area you are working on. Stay there until you have understood and absorbed the instructions that the cards intuitively impart.

In summary, the tarot is a lovely and exciting way to discern and repair weak areas in our lives. They will also help to confirm correct decisions that we make and will serve to enhance our general being.
